Health begins the cycle of fighting dengue, but keeping an eye on Covid-19

The Department of Health of Paraná yesterday launched the cycle of web conferences on Healthcare and surveillance in the fight against dengue. About 300 professionals working in the state and municipal Primary Care network participated in the activity that will be replicated to new professional groups also from Urgência and Emergência, with the planning of a further five web conferences.

The aim is to integrate the actions of the two technical areas responsible for the reception, care and treatment of patients with dengue. This integration of the areas is part of the Action Plan to combat dengue, Zika virus and Chikungunya fever in Paraná 2020/2021.

In addition to the disease itself, the concern is for the new coronavirus pandemic, which, albeit with stable numbers in recent weeks, is still a cause for attention from the secretariat.

“At this critical health time, when we are addressing the dengue epidemic and also the Covid-19 pandemic, we need to highlight information, update and train technical teams and align service protocols, with the aim of improving the health condition. the health of the population ”, says Health Secretary Beto Preto.

“There is a risk that, at this time, we have cases of concomitant coronavirus and dengue infection, with enormous damage to health. This is why our training and integration of actions before the rainy season ”, said Ivana Belmonte, coordinator of the Environmental Surveillance of the Secretariat of Health.

In the previous monitoring period, the state recorded the largest dengue epidemic, with 227,000 confirmations and 177 deaths. Until yesterday, the state had registered 207,341 cases of Covid-19.

Curitiba confirms four more deaths from the new coronavirus

Curitiba recorded, on Tuesday (27), 383 new cases of Covid-19 and four deaths of city residents infected with the new coronavirus, according to a bulletin from the Municipal Department of Health. All deaths have occurred in the last 48 hours and the new victims are two men and two women, aged between 64 and 84, patients who had chronic diseases as a risk factor for covid-19 complications. So far, there are 1,458 deaths in the city caused by the disease during this pandemic period.

With the new cases confirmed, 51,390 Curitiba residents have tested positive for covid-19 since the start of the pandemic, of which 46,440 have come out of isolation and without symptoms of the disease. There are 3,492 active cases in the city, corresponding to the number of people potentially capable of transmitting the virus.
