HC calls for response from Republic TV, Times Now on Bollywood producers’ appeal against “irresponsible remarks”

The Delhi High Court on Monday asked Republic TV and Times Now to respond to the plea of ​​major Bollywood producers seeking to stop them from making or publishing alleged “irresponsible, derogatory and defamatory remarks” against the film industry and conducting trials against its members on various issues.

Judge Rajiv Shakdher also asked the media houses AGR Outlier Media Pvt Ltd and Bennett Coleman and Company Ltd to ensure that no defamatory content is uploaded to social media platforms or displayed on their channels.

The media houses attorney has assured the court that they will follow the program code.

The lawsuit of four Bollywood industry associations and 34 leading manufacturers also sought to prevent them from interfering with the privacy rights of people associated with the industry.

He sought direction for Republic TV, its editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami and journalist Pradeep Bhandari, Times Now, its editor-in-chief Rahul Shivshankar and chief editor Navika Kumar, and unknown defendants, as well as social media platforms to refrain from. making or posting allegedly irresponsible, derogatory and defamatory comments against Bollywood.

The high court listed the lawsuit for a further hearing on December 14.
