SoftwareHBO Max will arrive in Europe in 2021, as confirmed by Andy Forssell, head of the global HBO Max division. Unfortunately the phasing out will take place after the second half of the year, Romania will be on the list towards the end of the year. WarnerMedia plans to reach a total of 190 countries with HBO Max.
In the context of the pandemic, WarnerMedia has also changed its film launch strategy, a strategy that will be highlighted much better in 2021. The company will release new films simultaneously in both theaters and HBO Max. The first films to be released in this form will be Wonder Woman 1984, Matrix 4, Godzilla or Mortal Kombat.
What’s going to happen to HBO Go?
As we have learned from the summer, this application will disappear. Not at the beginning, but rather gradually. It is very likely that for a very short period of time HBO Max and HBO Go will work in parallel and HBO Go will stop working afterwards.
What about the prices?
Another normal change will be the price change. If now HBO Go costs around 12-13 lei / month (around 3 euros / month), in the future HBO Max will move to much higher amounts (probably from 9-10 euros / month). However, we are talking about a premium service with a lot of its own content.
The important thing is that the video streaming market in Romania is becoming increasingly competitive and this translates into quality services. Unofficial sources say that this month the Disney Plus platform, another strong competitor of Netflix and HBO, will be launched in our country.
