GPU schedule for December: RTX 3060 Ti sales launch, RX 6900 XT test

from Thilo Bayer
After testing the Geforce RTX 3060 Ti, the launch of the Radeon RX 6900 XT is on the agenda in December. Contrary to initial announcements, there will also be custom boards from AMD partners in addition to reference designs. We introduce the GPU calendar for December.

One of the major CPU or GPU launches has been chasing the next since September. And not even December will be boring: December 2nd. The sale of the smaller RTX ampere card begins after the corresponding tests of the Geforce RTX 3060 Ti have already been published. And AMD also has another possible ace up its sleeve with the high-end RX-6900-XT.

December: RTX 3060 Ti and RX 6900 XT

While Nvidia, after three launches in September and October, completes the offering with number 4 in the RTX-30 bundle, AMD launches its fastest model in December. It is interesting and rewarding for many market watchers that Nvidia has once again matched the time for testing and sales for at least one day of the RTX 3060 Ti. In other words: in the run-up to the sale, interested readers can, among other things, watch the PCGH test for the RTX 3060 Ti and then purchase a card from Wednesday 2 December at 3pm if they wish. If this is technically possible. Matching partner cards start at 399 euros on paper (Asus DUAL RTX 3060 Ti and MSI Ventus RTX 3060 Ti), but prices of up to 600 euros can also be expected (Asus claims a recommended price of 569 euros for the Strix RTX 3060 Ti OC).

The departure of the Radeon RX 6900 XT “1,000 euro card” is on the agenda on 8 December at 3 pm. We put the price in quotes because AMD’s previous RRPs weren’t particularly worth it. As usual, the test NDA and the start of sales at AMD coincide. So you can’t know the performance in advance, you have to buy “with suspicion”. Interesting: While it was still rumored at the end of October that there would probably be no custom designs with the RX 6900 XT, that seems to have changed. What the Chinese media are reporting, we can confirm it through our contacts: there is actually a second NDA for custom designs by partners, which is expected to drop two days after the reference projects, which is December 10. By the way, Cyberpunk 2077 also starts that day.
