PHOENIX – Paul Goydos and Brandt Jobe each shot 7-under 64s in calm and cloudy conditions on Friday to share the first-round advantage in the PGA TOUR Champions Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
The tournament is the last official event of the year, but not the season as in the past. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent loss of tournaments, the 2020 and 2021 seasons have been combined with the Schwab Cup winner to be determined in a year’s time.
56-year-old Goydos broke the par 5 18th in a bug-free round at the Phoenix Country Club. He won the event in 2016 at Desert Mountain for one of his five PGA TOUR Champions titles.
