Infectious disease specialist Bojana Beovi estimates that the latest data on confirmed coronavirus infections and covid-19 patients estimate that there is still no talk of the peak of the epidemic. Since the curve can turn upwards at any time, it requires a tight adherence to measurements. It is also possible to predict an increase in the number of patients in hospitals for some time to come.

Ljubljana Beovieva, also head of the expert group for covid-19 at the Ministry of Health, explained today in a statement to the STA that the latest data are still standing and that we cannot talk about the peak of the epidemic, but yes can speak of plateau. This is why it is so urgent that further steps are taken which hopefully will reverse the epidemic downward, he said.

Given the significant number of confirmed cases of new coronavirus infections in the past week and the fact that some of them are quite elderly, he estimates that the number of those in need of hospital care is expected to increase for some time to come. He hopes the drop in the number of hospitalized patients will occur by the end of November.

According to her, at the Ljubljana Infectious Disease Clinic we always drive to the limit, but at the same time the entire Slovenian health system provides enough beds for people to be properly cared for.
