Google Messages has the ability to schedule messages

5. November 2020 – After Google recently started introducing a new feature in the Google Messages app that can be used to classify conversations, the company is now introducing another new feature to Google Messages via a server-side update.

Google is currently testing the ability to send messages in its Google Messages app, as reported by “Neowin”. There appears to be limited testing of this feature at the moment, as it will only be shown to some Google Messages users via a company’s server-side update.

To schedule a message, users need to long press the send button. You will then see the schedule option and the Messages app itself will give you some suggestions. If not, users also have the option to manually select a date and time for sending the message.

Scheduled messages appear in the conversation window with a clock icon next to it and under “Scheduled Message”. Tapping a scheduled message gives users the option to update the message and scheduled time, send it now, or delete it entirely.

According to “XDA” the feature is already part of the latest Google Messages APK and it is only a matter of time before Google introduces it to everyone. The function also works for text messages and does not depend on RCS. (sweetness)
