With Google One, the group has created its own subscription model, which it now feeds with benefits. For example, the new features of Google Photos need to be moved under the subscription service umbrella.

Google One is the name of the search engine giant’s subscription platform, which has so far mainly offered volume of data. But in the future, customers could get much more than just 100 gigabytes of server space for $ 1.99 a month. In the next version of Google Photos, experts have found indications that the special editing features are intended for subscribers only.

After the article was published, users reported that the “Color Pop” feature in the image editing program had recently been blocked for non-members. The company then announced that Color Pop will continue to be available for free. Google One members can only use the feature on images that do not contain depth information. With this, Google confirms that the free tool is gradually being limited in order to fill the subscription service with exclusive benefits.

New filters also behind Paywall

The same goes for the new Google Photos features. Version 5.18 of the tool will receive six new filters to modify the skies. Observers suspect that Google is also putting “luminescent”, “airy”, “bright”, “bright”, “radiant” and “stormy” behind the service payment barrier. More recently, the company gave Google Photos a new logo and more features in the summer. What other plans the group has with its subscription model remains in the dark. Google offers a number of free programs and apps.
