Google experiments with displaying Google Shopping ads on Chrome’s “New Tab” page

Google is testing a new feature for its Chrome browser: show Google Shopping product suggestions when we open a “New Tab” page. This feature is, for now, only available in Chrome Canary, the development version of the Chrome browser that includes the latest updates.

These Ads, customized based on the user’s browsing activity, can be displayed under the shortcuts that appear after the search bar, as shown in the previous image.


An experiment with potential effects on online marketing

The format will be the same as that shown in Google Shopping search results: showing the photo, price and name of the products and, just above, why these specific tips are displayed.

In this way, as in the example image, by doing some research on office chairs, Chrome will show us in the new tab suggestions related to that product.
