Geneva – (dpa):
The World Health Organization has recommended wearing masks at home to prevent transmission of Coronavirus infection when receiving visitors if physical distance cannot be maintained.
And a new guidance document released Wednesday included masks should be worn indoors when it’s unclear whether the room is properly ventilated.
The World Health Organization had previously requested wearing masks in confined spaces, but did not mention directives for private places.
And the UN has expanded its recommendations for wearing masks in health care facilities to include a recommendation that administrative staff and workers who are not directly involved in health care always wear masks.
The organization stressed the need for patients to wear masks in situations where they are in close contact with others.
On Wednesday, the organization renewed a warning that wearing masks can give a false sense of security by making people overlook other key preventative measures.
