Gigi Becali has retired from public life, but as of this season she is investing in one of the oldest women’s football clubs in Romania, FC Fair Play Bucharest, a team that has the colors red, blue and white. The decision of the owner of the FCSB comes after the FRF imposed as a condition for obtaining the license to own a women’s football team.

Becali has retired from football but is investing in a women’s football team. How much money do you pay?

As of this season, League 1 clubs are required by the FRF to have a women’s football group under the age of 15. It is not mandatory that the women’s football department be set up from scratch, but partnerships with existing teams are also accepted. However, starting next season, League 1 teams will have to own a women’s soccer team, senior and two junior groups, U13 and U15.

Gigi Becali went in this way and decided to invest in FC Fair Play Bucharest, one of the oldest women’s football teams in Romania. The coach here is Ion Bărbăcioru, a good friend of Valeriu Argăseală.

For this year, Gigi Becali pays for a junior U15 team. The amount that the FCSB holder pays annually is 20,000 euros. The money doesn’t seem like a lot, but for FC Fair Play Bucharest – who play in League 1 – it represents half of the budget for an entire season. But, starting next season, Gigi Becali will have to invest even more money in the club, because he is obliged to own a U13 group, plus a senior team.

In addition to this money, the girls of the U15 team also benefit from the original equipment used by the FCSB.

Gigi Becali, forced to invest in a women’s football club. The head of the FCSB was initially annoyed

When Răzvan Burleanu announced the new license condition, Gigi Becali was the most vehement. The owner of the FCSB then suffered a sexist drift and announced that he has no intention of making a women’s football team.

“People have lost their minds! Women wear men’s trousers and skirts. This is London fashion! Man is made in the image of God and woman is man’s slave. Do you want man to be laughed at? This is the devil’s intention! Let the woman have strength and the man be twisted! He wants to ruin his family! That’s why there are no more families, because they lose their minds. If Bodescu and Burleanu say, they make a team women’s soccer. I don’t argue with them! But if the ball hits their breasts, what do they do? In the bra? You better shoot me, but I’m not going to women’s football. You better cut off my head! I don’t change my mind. I don’t change Christ even if I die. I prefer to die! Football is not a women’s sport. How do they play in the days when they have problems? “, Gigi Becali later said.

For those statements, Gigi Becali was fined by the Disciplinary Commission with 13,400 euros and was suspended for a period of four months. The FCSB boss tried to seek justice from the CAS, but lost. Eventually, as the rule was a condition for licensing, Gigi Becali decided to invest in women’s football and chose one of the oldest clubs in Romania.
