Gig Apps Space is heating up with rumors about vaccines

[ad_2][ad_1]

THE PYMNTS The Gig Economy Index found that while 84% of gig workers would get more work done if they were paid faster, 17% of gig workers lost up to 20% of their income due to payment mechanisms. This is changing with gig workers more and more in the driver’s seat, literally and figuratively, as evidenced by PYMNTS ‘latest Gig App Provider ranking.

There aren’t many changes to this latest ranking, granted. But the few changes are noteworthy and suggest more maneuvers behind the rapidly evolving gig economy.

The top five

No change at the top with DoorDash holding position no. 1, Uber Driver chased at no. 2 and the Instacart app for food concerts which remains at no. 3 for another month.

The Fiverr online freelance marketplace is where we left off at # 4 on the previous Gig app chart, but one notable change is that Amazon Flex has moved up two spots to number 5 on this round.

The top 10

Speaking of gigs, the aptly named Freelancer app again looks good at No. 6, while at n. 7 came as a surprise, with ride sharing brand Lyft up two spots. News of an upcoming vaccine again has a bullish feeling in the ride-hailing industry, it seems.

Global freelance platform Upwork drops three places to number 8, remaining in the Top 10 as its Gross Service Volume (GSV) increased 23% year-over-year to $ 654.5 million. The TaskRabbit mobile work app enters the Top 10 at No. 9 in this ranking of Gig app providers, with Grubhub’s gig worker app occupying the No. 10th place, closing another ranking of concert apps.
