It is the largest exhibition center in Berlin (Germany) and soon one of the largest vaccination centers in the country. Development work has just begun for a mass campaign: “20,000 people a day”, reports Albrecht Broemme, head of logistics. He has four weeks to transform the rooms. We have to install new partitions, organize flows and arrange spaces.
Around sixty centers like this are planned across Germany. They will all be equipped in a factory in the center of the country: Binder. It is one of the largest freezer manufacturers in the world. “We can go down to -90 degrees, it’s very coldexplains Peter Wimmer, Binder’s engineer. With this temperature we can be sure that the vaccine does not expire. “ Sold for around 20,000 euros each, these machines are sold at will. Regions responsible for vaccine storage placed an order several months ago, and overtime is common among workers. The boss, Peter Binder, warns however: in this context of health crisis, “delivery times are getting longer”.
