The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti as a new entry in Nvidia’s new generation of GPUs is no longer a secret. After various partner projects have already been seen, it shows VideoCardz Images of the RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition.
Same cooler as the RTX 3070 FE
The cooler already looks familiar at first glance, because the same design as the RTX 3070 Founders Edition (test) is apparently used. The RTX 3070 FE cooler measures 9.5 ” (24.5cm) long and 4 ” (11cm) wide. The graphics card takes up two slots and is cooled by two 85mm fans and a radiator with aluminum fins. The fan on the left blows fresh air against the PCB and tries to get it out of the housing as best as possible through the slot cover. The one on the right uses the PCB, which is shorter than the cooler, and blows air through the cooling fins once – the backplate then has a cavity on the back of the board.
An unusually large amount of information has leaked about the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, which has even been advertised to foreign retailers. The specs are considered certain: with the GA104-200, a smaller GPU variant of the RTX 3070 is used, which only has 4,864 active shader units, and clock rates should be slightly lower. With 8 GB GDDR6 (14 Gbps) on the 256-bit interface, there is again a link to the next fastest model in the Ampere family. The TDP should be between 180 and 200 watts and the price should be just under $ 400. The date of the introduction also seems almost certain: various sources have repeatedly mentioned the beginning of December. VideoCardz continues from 2 December 2020.
Some partner cards are already visible
In addition to Nvidia’s Founders Edition shown above, numerous custom designs can be expected from the board’s partners. Gigabyte’s GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and Inno 3D (pictured below) have already been shown.
Alleged benchmarks from Nvidia
The first indications of the level of performance from the manufacturer’s point of view (unconfirmed) have already been given: in selected benchmarks, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti should beat a GeForce RTX 2080 Super from the previous Turing generation. The still unconfirmed AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT is being traded as a potential antagonist, on which new indications have only emerged today. A lower floor is calculated with GeForce RTX 3060 and Radeon RX 6700.
