It is almost until the beginning of the series Galaxy S21, the new Samsung flagships are expected in January 2021. Through Android Police today we discover exclusive information on their specifications and features. The AP claims to have seen official renders of the phones as well, but cannot make them public to protect the identity of the sources. However, here’s what they revealed.

The new Galaxy S21 line will include three models: Galaxy S21 (codename O1), Galaxy S21 + (codename T2) e Galaxy S21 Ultra (codename P3). As for the colors, S21 would be available in shades: Phantom Violet, Phantom Pink, Phantom Gray and Phantom White. S21 + will be available in Phantom Silver, Phantom Black and Phantom Violet, while Galaxy S21 Ultra will only be available in Phantom Silver and Phantom Black.

The AP source claims that the Galaxy S21 would have a plastic case, while the Galaxy S21 Ultra will remain in the bottle. But we don’t know anything about the Galaxy S21 +, as customers have responded to the plastic more positively than Samsung would have expected. The renders that appeared on the internet a few days ago have been confirmed (details here). According to AP sources and as we suspected, the rear camera module will be part of the terminal side frame. They will also be available in different colors depending on the shade of the terminal.

As a CPU, we will find new models under the case Snapdragon 875 or Exynos 2100, the variant of the processor that will arrive locally. We are also told that the new Exynos 2100 should be “On par with Snapdragon 875 or better”, although it is not yet clear what to expect. At the same time, the Exynos 2100 would be more fuel efficient, substantially improving its range. Both Snapdragon 875 and Exynos 2100 are 5G compatible chips, and every phone in the new range will have this technology. We don’t know if Samsung is still planning to launch LTE versions of them. Galaxy S21 Ultra will be the only model to receive Wi-Fi 6E, which Samsung says is twice as fast as Wi-Fi 6.

The batteries will remain similar to those found on the Galaxy S20 series. Therefore, the battery of the Samsung Galaxy S21 would have 4,000 mAh, while the Galaxy S21 + will be chosen with 4800 mAh (300 mAh more than the S20 +) and the Galaxy S21 Ultra will integrate a 5000 mAh battery. As for the display, Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 + would have FHD + resolution screens with 120Hz refresh rate, but they would not receive LTPO panels like we have on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The Galaxy S21 will have a 6.2-inch diagonal screen, while the Galaxy S21 + will measure 6.7-inches.

As for the Galaxy S21 Ultra, it would one of the largest screens ever found on a smartphone to date. It would measure 6.8-inch diagonal with WQHD + resolution and LTPO with adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. At the same time, the S21 Ultra would have of a brightness of 1600 nits units and a contrast ratio of 3,000,000: 1. The AP sources say so too the phones will have S-pen support, but the stylus will not be included in the package. Therefore, Samsung plans to sell it separately and it would be magnetically fixed on the back of the terminals.

The camera system found on the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 + would remain unchanged from the S20 series. Here we have a 12MP main sensor, 64MP telephoto lens and 12MP ultrawide. While we can’t exactly confirm the sensors used, Samsung would use similar components found on the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 +.

However, Galaxy S21 Ultra will have a new configuration. The main camera would have a 108MP sensor, the second generation of the sensor found on the Galaxy S20 Ultra or Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The model will also include an ultrawide sensor found on the S21 and S21 +, but will have two 3x optical telephoto and 10x “super” telephoto telephoto sensors. Thanks to the latter, Samsung will also include 100X Space Zoom. However, the S21 Ultra will have a laser sensor for autofocus, thus solving the focusing problems found on the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Samsung will bring new improvements and features to the cameras. Everyone will be able to shoot 4K / 60fps, this being limited in the past only to the main sensor. The camera will be able to switch between 30fps and 60fps, depending on the lighting conditions, just like the Google Pixel. At the same time, support for shooting in 8K at 30fps will be added (previously only possible on the S20 series at 24fps).

We will also have the double recording mode, through which we can film using the rear and main camera at the same time. As a novelty, Samsung will allow us to save the videos side by side, image in image or as two different files. We should also see an improved night mode that gives us more manual precision. However, Moon mode (included in One UI 3.0) should use EIS to help us photograph the moon.

We are still waiting Ultra wide band, known as UWB, which should be supported by Galaxy S21 + and Galaxy S21 Ultra. This technology will be used to monitor SmartThings tags (not yet released). And Samsung will also add support for digital car key recognition, with the launch of the Galaxy S21 and S21 Ultra. However, we do not have exact information on the countries where this feature will be available.

Overall, the new Galaxy S21 line looks good and brings improvements to the S20 series. According to some rumors, Samsung would reduce the prices of the new terminals. While we don’t have the exact prices for any regions yet, as we learn more we will definitely let you know.
