As usual, Samsung is doing a great job bringing the latest security patches to its smartphones. That said, the November 2020 security update is now reaching another device, namely the Galaxy Note 9 (SM-N960F) in Europe. The most recent update is identified by firmware version N960FXXU6FTK1. Availability is currently limited to Germany.
Galaxy Note 9 gets November patch after One UI 2.5
The November 2020 security patch was detailed by Samsung earlier this month. Basically one week after the release of the update for the Galaxy Z Fold 2. The patch fixes 5 critical vulnerabilities in the Android operating system. Also 29 severe threats and 31 moderate threats. It also fixes an issue on the Exynos 990. Of course, this part doesn’t apply to the Galaxy Note 9 which has the Exynos 9810.
The new firmware update does not appear to include any additional features. That is, in addition to the security patch.
But no one expected it either. It is that One UI 2.5 arrived very recently on the Galaxy Note 9.
Indeed, this was a big surprise. Is that the owners of this smartphone were entitled to features such as support for wireless DeX. As it’s easy to understand, it allows you to use DeX on any TV that supports screen mirroring (although Samsung naturally suggests using their own Smart TV). The camera also has news. So the single shot mode now allows you to select the recording duration and can select the video recording resolution and frame rate (24, 30 and 60 fps) in the Pro video mode. However, the Samsung Keyboard app was improved with a YouTube search function, as well as the option to use the split keyboard in landscape mode. Finally, the Messaging application has a new feature that allows you to send SOS messages every 30 minutes for 24 hours.
I remember that the Galaxy S20 range was the first to receive the One UI 2.5 update. More specifically the firmware G981BXXU4BTH5, G986BXXU4BTH5 and G988BXXU4BTH5 for Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 + and Galaxy S20 Ultra respectively. Meanwhile, and as if this good news weren’t enough, Samsung is also working on updating Android 11 for the S20.
