IOS 14 was made official in June with great news such as widgets that finally made it to the Apple operating system. However, not all apps have interactive versions that work this way, and today Google showed what widgets for its core apps will look like and when they should arrive. Check them all now.
Google Chrome
Starting with the most used browser in the world, Chrome will receive a widget packed with features such as a search bar, a button for private browsing, another for voice search and a QR code reader.
Additionally, Google claims that there is a “prehistoric surprise” hidden in the smaller version of the widget, which has not yet been shown, but will be available to try when it launches in early 2021.
Calendrio do Google
Google calendar will receive a simpler widget. With it it will be possible to simply open the calendar as if it were the normal icon, but it will show your agenda for the day, simply by unlocking the phone to check your appointments.
This widget is expected to be released in the next few weeks, but Google has yet to state exactly when this should happen.
Gmail, Google Drive and more
Also, some widgets are already available now. We are talking about GMail, Google Drive and Fit, which already have mini versions that can be used directly from the home screen. See how they looked:
One of the most interactive will surely be Fit’s, which shows the history of heart rate and physical activity on the home screen, however it does not have shortcut buttons like Drive and GMail.
It is worth mentioning that applications must be updated to the latest version available on the App Store for the widgets to be available.
Furthermore, it should be noted that widgets on iOS 14 have major limitations, such as not being able to perform actions directly from the home screen, instead they act as shortcuts to certain areas of the applications, which are opened by touching them.
Finally, remember that Google already has a widget for its main search application on iOS 14, which is already available, as you can see above.
