AVM took its time with the first Wi-Fi 6 compatible Fritzbox for xDSL internet connections: the 6660 model for wired internet was released in early 2020. Now the Fritzbox 7530 AX will follow. On the WLAN side in the 5 GHz band with three instead of two MIMO streams, it is also slightly better equipped than the first version of Wi-Fi 6.
The 7530 AX achieves a gross data rate of up to 1800 Mbit / s (6660: 1200 Mbit / s) with the usual channel width of 80 MHz on the radio interface. However, unlike its predecessor, the device does not support the use of an extra wide 160 MHz channel for double the gross speed. In the 2.4 GHz band, the new box with Wi-Fi 6 technology and two MIMO streams like the 6660 has a maximum of 600 Mbit / s.
Supervision-VDSL
On the Internet side, the new Fritzbox Supervectoring-VDSL includes up to 300 Mbit / s downstream (35b profile), in the opposite direction it carries a maximum of 50 Mbit / s. Modern WLAN clients (Wi-Fi 5 and 6) should be able to take full advantage of these data rates through one or two walls, as long as not too many nearby WLANs on the radio bands are active at the same time.
The 7530 also features four Gigabit Ethernet ports for the home network, a TAE / ab port for an analog phone, and a DECT base for up to six cordless phones. You can use a USB port to connect mass storage devices or printers to share them in the (W) LAN. The Fritzbox 7530 AX is expected to hit the market in November, be equipped with the current FritzOS 7.2x and cost 169 euros.
What the main innovations of FritzOS 7.2x – secure name resolution, encrypted telephony and increased WLAN security – bring into practice, describes a focal point of the c’t: more privacy with Fritz boxes.
