Francis Ngannou finds himself in a frustrating position in the UFC and his success has taken the heavyweight division by storm. The problem Francis Ngannou had to face is that he has been ready for the title for some time, but the Stipe Miocic-Daniel Cormier trilogy has substantially held back the heavyweight division between 2018 and 2020. The lack of defenses of the title and priority assigned to Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier meant that Francis Ngannou had to wait in line.

Francis Ngannou then stated his problem that the heavyweight division hasn’t moved on since 2018:
“If things go on, this wouldn’t be a problem,” Ngannou said. “Many divisions have three or four title defenses per year. We’re talking about a division where there has been a title defense per year, so it offers a lot of complicated positions for contenders. And then they line up and line up, but nobody really moves.
