Mick Schumacher will drive in Formula 1 next year. The 21-year-old son of world record champion Michael Schumacher will receive a regular cabin at Haas and a contract “for several years” next season. Like Schumacher, Russian Nikita Masepin will join the squad in 2021, Haas announced on Tuesday. With three points, the Americans are next to last in the constructors’ championship. Haas announced the separation from longtime regular pilots Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen in October.
Schumacher is still driving in Formula 2 for the Italian Prema team this year and will participate in the last two races of the season over the weekend in Bahrain as the overall leader. There he will also cover his first few kilometers for Haas during training in Abu Dhabi. It is also used in tests for young drivers after the season finale at the Yas Marina circuit.
