Apple just released iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 for all users. The update brings among other things the new intercom function for HomePod and the Shazam widget for the control center. The update also brings users over 100 new emojis on iPhone and iPad. Furthermore, the update brings various bug fixes.
Apple released the update to iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 for all users tonight. The update can be requested as usual in Settings> General> Software Update.
iOS 14.2 brings among other things the new intercom function. This allows you to send voice messages from HomePod to HomePod as well as to iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or CarPlay in your car via Siri, provided all locations are part of the same family.
Over 100 new emojis have also been added to iOS 14.2.
More recently, a Shazam widget has been added for the control center. With this you can start music recognition from the control center with just one click.

• The magnifying glass can detect people nearby and report the distance to people using the LiDAR sensor on iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
• Leather case holder for iPhone 12 with MagSafe.
• Optimized charging of AirPods batteries delays battery aging, as AirPods are charged less often fully thanks to special charging logic.
• Headphone volume level notifications warn you of excessive volume levels, which can damage your hearing.
• New AirPlay controls allow you to stream entertainment media throughout the home.
• Intercom support for HomePod and HomePod mini with iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods and CarPlay.
• Ability to use HomePod for audio playback in stereo, surround sound and Dolby Atmos via Apple TV 4K.
• Ability to transmit anonymous statistical data on meeting notifications to participating health authorities.
