For a strengthening of punitive measures against influencers of anti-health measures

Prime Minister Legault,

We are a group of Quebec citizens concerned about the rise of the opposition movement to health measures in the province.

See all the texts in the section make the difference.

We are writing to ask you to take more firm action against self-proclaimed anti-hygiene influencers and “free thinkers”. These anti-health “free thinkers” openly push groups to organize events that go against health measures. Their manipulation strategies are the use of misinformation and obvious falsehoods.

Furthermore, we see that these people at the head of this movement are raising masses with false pretensions. In particular, they communicate that the government, the legal system and the economic system are acting illegally to impoverish Quebeckers.

As acts of disobedience, they organize and multiply demonstrations that go against our collective efforts in the current fight against the pandemic.

They act with impunity under the nose of the authorities. We believe that the increased risk of outbreaks could stem from this concerted and systematic disobedience that puts the already weakened health system as well as its already abused employees at risk.

This disobedience also puts the economy at risk by shutting down non-essential services.

These anti-health “free thinkers” claim they want to save our economy through their actions and complaints. On the other hand, by creating these events, they contribute to prolonging the crisis and the closures of the economic sectors.

We, the people of Quebec, who support the government in its health initiatives, ask you to strengthen the punitive measures against these people. They break laws and regulations by openly demanding civil disobedience against the democratic and scientific majority.

Mr. Legault, it’s time to act.

We ask you to accept, Prime Minister, our sincere greetings.

This letter was signed by a collective of 70 people from all regions of Quebec. Claiming that they feared reprisals, they demanded that their identity not be revealed.
