A recent medical study revealed that foods that contain high levels of antioxidants and vitamins significantly help control the body’s response to inflammation and reduce the risk of heart disease.

According to CNN, vitamins and antioxidants are found largely in vegetables such as carrots, tomatoes, whole grains, fruits, nuts and olive oil. According to Sky News.

Eating foods and meats that have been processed and converted leads to chronic inflammation in the human body, which increases the risk of heart disease and stroke.

This huge and detailed study was published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and included a sample of 166,000 women and 44,000 women over a thirty-year period.

The results showed that those who consumed high levels of red and processed meat, such as sausages, bacon, and frequently sweetened products, were 28% more likely to have a stroke and 46% more likely to have heart disease.

The researcher, John Lee, explained that this study is unique, despite the presence of much medical research on the effects of eating habits on health.

He explained that this study is unique, because it didn’t focus on just one food group, but rather included 18 food groups and the goal was to find out the level of inflammation that results from each group separately.

The study reported that inflammation increased significantly in people who eat a lot of meat or processed meat, refined grains, and sugary drinks, including drinks that are said to target those on the diet.

The foods that cause the lowest level of inflammation are green leafy vegetables, fruit, whole grains, tea, and coffee.

The findings of this study come amid Western governments’ fears that the obesity crisis is seen as a troubling health threat.

Experts say the diet, which is known as the “North American diet”, poses a great threat to the health of those who adhere to it, because it mostly depends on meals like burgers, pizza and fat-saturated sandwiches in addition to french fries, while many nutritious and useful elements such as vegetables and fruits.
