features, price and data sheet

HMD Global, the company behind the Nokia brand, has long been reviving classic phones and updating them for modern times. We have the Nokia 3310, the Nokia 8810 (also known as the “Matrix” mobile) and now the Nokia 6300 4G and Nokia 8000 4G, two legendary cell phones of the Finnish company.

Both devices continue to bet on the design of the past, although this has been modernized with new colors and finishes. Inside we find the KaiOS operating system, which is compatible with different applications (such as WhatsApp), so it cannot be said that they are exactly “dumb cell phones”. Their prices are 49 and 79 euros, respectively.

Nokia 1 Nokia 6300 4G and Nokia 8000 4G.

As we can see in the table above, The Nokia 6300 4G and the Nokia 8000 4G are quite similar on the inside. The design differences are there, of course, but for practical purposes what changes is the camera resolution and screen size, which is slightly larger in the Nokia 6300 4G. Otherwise, the same.

The Nokia 6300 4G retains the upper “module” with the screen, multidirectional control and six buttons, leaving the alphanumeric keyboard in the lower area. The Nokia 8000 4G, on the other hand, has a more elegant front, always in the same color, with multidirectional control integrated in the keys in the upper area.

On the back we have a clean finish and in different colors. There we find only the LED flash and the camera. We didn’t mention the front camera because neither device has, so to take a selfie you’ll need to turn on your phone. However, this type of device is usually focused on disconnection and basic use, so in principle it fits the strategy of HMD Global.

Under the hood of both terminals we have a file Snapdragon 205 processor, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory expandable with microSD cards up to 32 GB. The battery is 1,500 mAh (removable, by the way) and, according to HMD Global, can last “days”, even if they have not been more specific.

The operating system is KaiOS. What does it mean? Which are relatively smart phones, as they are compatible with apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube and Google Maps. They also have the Google Assistant. It’s a basic operating system, and the components within it should be able to move it around without major problems, at least on paper.
