Kymco is a Taiwanese brand with a few years of experience in the production of electric motorcycles and at the end of the year it presented novelties that were a little out of the box. Among them is the new Kymco F9, an eScooter that although designed for urban mobility has a surprising sporty design.

The manufacturer also announced that it will start producing electric motorcycles in a factory located in Italy, albeit starting with the Kymco RevoNEX (an electric model too but from 2019). We do not know if the F9 will also be produced in the European continent, but in the meantime we can see the characteristics of this peculiar model.

An eScooter with pretensions and a different style

The Kymco F9 is different from other e-scooter proposals such as the Yamaha e-Vino or the SEAT MÓ. To have a much more risky and aggressive sporting aesthetic, which is almost more reminiscent of road and fast proposals like that of Zero.

One year and 30,000 km on an electric motorcycle, my experience

It has the engine placed in front of the rear wheel and the battery is integrated into the structure itself in the center of the bike, with the frame in charge of containing it. This engine has an output of 9.4 kW with which they promise reaches 50 km / h in just three seconds, although its top speed is 110 km / h (so although it is classified as an eScooter it is also capable of driving on the road, being at the height of a 125cc motorcycle).

Another of the peculiarities of this bike is that it has a two-speed gearbox in addition to the automatic gearbox, the first eScooter with one like this according to the brand. There is talk of a full recharge of the battery in two hours, ensuring that it can reach 120 kilometers of range.

It weighs 107 kilograms, so it’s relatively light and both wheels measure 14 inches. The seat is double and has brackets for both occupants, as it does not include a support platform. Y has a large screen as an indicator, although we do not know the data in terms of inches and resolution, as well as the data it shows.

It will arrive in 2021

Kymco unveiled its catalog for 2021 where we saw four new models: Kymco DT X360, Kymco F9, Kymco KRV and Kymco CV3. But it left us waiting to know the pricing and availability details, so we’ll have to wait until 2021.

What is sure to arrive in Spain is the Kymco DT X360, so it will be necessary to see if next to it comes the sports model in what seems a clear intention to establish itself in Europe, albeit gradually. Due to its characteristics, if it arrived in Spain, it could be driven with a type B car license after three years of experience or with an A1 license, it will be necessary to see if it will finally be launched in this country (and for how long).
