Vivo is defining design lines in its mid-range so that it can differentiate it so that one of its cell phones can be identified at a glance on the back. The last pebble on this street is the new one Vivo V20 Pro 5G, which, as the name suggests, completes the offer compatible with this network that the brand already offers.

A different front, but not a new one
Although we also saw a Vivo V20 SE, speaking of that aesthetic we mentioned at the beginning, the new Vivo V20 Pro 5G is more reminiscent of the Vivo X51 5G than the SE. It has a matte finish back and a more square module, with the dual finish we saw in the X51 and just as prominent.
In fact, this nub stands out as it is such a slim, solo mobile Thickness 7.39mm. It is also light to talk about phones with a screen of almost 6.4 inches as we will now see, weighing 170 grams, although as you might think the battery is not one of the largest we see today.
On the front, something strikes: a notch which is not like the ones we usually see in the shape of a drop or “U”, but wider. The explanation: we do not see an advanced facial recognition system, these are two front cameras that we do not see protrude from the holes such as in the Huawei P40 Pro.
Speaking of the screen, it comes a 6.44-inch AMOLED panel with FullHD + resolution, thus being up to par in terms of this value of the more ambitious mid-range phones and even some high-end phones. This screen includes the fingerprint reader, which, as you might think, isn’t on the thin side or the back.
5G and five rear cameras
The V series, like the X, V is mainly focused on design and tries to differentiate itself from what would be a more standard mid-range on a technological level, which includes mid-range and high-end phones (in China the manufacturer unifies them in the line X). We will see that in this case the focus is on the cameras, but include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G It also supposes a differential point within the V.
Vivo V20 Pro incorporates 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage as the only option. It does not have an audio minijack but it has a fast charge at 33 W for a 4,000 mAh battery, which, as we had anticipated, does not stand out in today’s cellphones up to 7,000 mAh (more bulky and heavier).
But let’s talk about their cameras. There is a curious combination in the Vivo V20 Pro bet that combines “the usual” in an atypical way. Let’s see them five lenses in total:
- Main camera: 64-megapixel sensor with an aperture of f / 1.89.
- Multi Camera: It is an 8 megapixel sensor with a lens that acts as a wide angle, macro or lens for portrait mode.
- 2 megapixel monochrome sensor.
- Double front camera: 44 megapixel sensor and a wide angle with 8 megapixel sensor. The main also has autofocus for the subject’s eye and a special mode for night portraits.
Vivo’s approach with that multiple camera it’s not new at all, since we have seen several mobiles that incorporate a macro mode taking advantage of the wide angle such as OnePlus 8 Pro or OPPO Reno4 Pro. Something that makes sense and that in a way gives a lesson to the current trend of introducing a macro lens perhaps as padding to get three or four rear cameras (without investing too much).
What is not so logical is use the term “hybrid zoom” on the rear camera module, which can be misleading. This term usually describes the combination of optical and digital zoom as an intermediate option between one and the other (to improve the result of the digital only), and we see no telephoto lens here.
Versions and prices of the Vivo V20 Pro
The Vivo V20 Pro was presented at the moment in India. The starting price is approx 390 euros to change (34,999 rupees), although the manufacturer launched it with an initial offer of around 335 euros at the exchange rate (29,990 rupees).
