Redmi enters the fight for smartwatches
The Redmi Watch is a simple watch, with functions that don’t go much beyond a Mi Band 5. But what changes is the design, with a decidedly more complete look.
The Redmi Watch comes with a 1.4-inch color LCD panel with 323 dpi pixel density and an HD resolution of 320 pixels in height and width. The screen features automatic brightness and 2.5D glass for a smoother touch thanks to the curve.
It is a lightweight watch, with a 35 grams of weight, and one of its promises is the good level of autonomy it will offer, with a autonomy up to 7 days which can reach 12 days in sports mode, according to the company. For this, the Redmi Watch has 230 mAh, a point below Xiaomi’s circular clock which also includes GPS and is a point above.
Xiaomi offers us the possibility to configure the screen with 120 dials different and we have 7 different sport modes: outdoor running, indoor running, outdoor cycling, indoor cycling, walking, pool swimming and free activity.
As usual in this type of device, we have 5 ATM water resistance, heart rate sensor and sleep monitoring.
The Redmi Watch is compatible with both Android and iOS and has it Bluetooth 5.0 to perform pairing. Also, it comes with NFC, an addition that Xiaomi usually offers exclusively in China, where payment via Alipay is very common.
Its international availability is unknown at the moment, but it would predictably lose NFC along the way. Compatibility with the XiaoAI voice assistant is also added in China.
The watch is ready to view notifications for incoming calls or messages, view time or time information, view social media details, and pair with other devices.
Versions and price of the Redmi Watch
The new Redmi Watch will be available in multiple colors thanks to the interchangeable bracelets. Among the options is color black, dark blue, green, pink and tan.
Its official price is 299 yuan, about 39 euros to exchange, although in promotion it will sell for 269 yuan. One of its biggest rivals, the Realme Watch, was initially offered for 375 yuan, which ultimately was around 54 euros in Spain. With this price, Xiaomi aims to position the Redmi Watch as one of the cheapest smartwatches on the market.
