The Federal Communications Commission has approved Apple’s new MagSafe Duo charger and we will likely see it launched later in the year, possibly even in late November.

FCC MagSafe Duo approved

Filed in a “dual coil charger” with model number A2458, the charger can power an Apple Watch and an iPhone 12 at the same time. It is listed on Apple’s website as “coming soon” and costs $ 129. Many reviews posted on Monday call the charger “too expensive” and “disappointing”.

From Matteo Panzarino:

But that retreat is where we start to get to the dodgy stuff. For context, you should understand that it costs $ 129, but it looks like it should be $ 70. When you find out it’s a charger that doesn’t come with a power supply, I wouldn’t be surprised if you mentally cut it down to $ 40.

Meanwhile, from Dieter Bohn:

It is a well made object, no doubt. There are magnets that hold it together when bent in any direction. The hinge of the watch charger is solid and smooth. The weight of the whole object helps make it feel more comfortable and it’s quite satisfying to close it. It also helps ensure that the entire kit and caboodle don’t vibrate off the table when a phone call is received.
