Manchester United had a busy day with Facundo Pellistri amidst a series of new signings.
The Uruguayan teenager, 18, has signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils with an option for an extra year after being spotted by scouts.
After making 37 first team appearances for Penarol in his homeland, he was offered a huge opportunity to go to Old Trafford on a deal worth £ 9m starting.
He received a tough welcome in English football and made his second appearance with the Under 21 team on Wednesday night in a 4-0 defeat to Morecambe.
After the match, Under 23 boss Neil Wood was questioned by MEN Sport about his progress and revealed that he was regularly involved in first team training and left a positive impression.
Wood said: “We didn’t have much access to him, he trained a lot with the first team and he trained well with the first team so it will take some time to adapt.
“It’s not easy to come to another country and go racing, you see it at the highest level.
“So it’s great for him to go out on the pitch and have a few minutes behind him and some sharpness in the match. It will help him in the long run.
“I know tonight [at Morecambe] It is not the ideal situation for him, but it can only help to be on the pitch. “
After securing the move to the club, Pellistri said: “Joining a club with Manchester United history is a dream come true.
“I learned a lot at Penarol and I would like to thank them for everything they have done for me. Having the manager’s trust is an incredible feeling and I know that working with him will be perfect for my development.
“I come in a squad full of great players that I will learn from every day.
“Everyone knows that Manchester United is a club that offers young players an opportunity and I am ready to work hard every day to earn those chances and prove myself in England.”
