There is a lot to do in the cloud gaming market. After Microsoft announced in August that it would officially launch its xCloud offering in September, the social network Facebook has also been involved since October 26. IPhone users can only watch
But cloud gaming is still very limited, not just in terms of the number of titles on offer. According to Facebook, the service will initially run exclusively in the United States – it is not known if and when it will arrive in Switzerland. As for smartphones, it only works on Android devices. According to CNN, iPhone owners should be able to watch other players play, but without activating.
Last year, Google also launched a game streaming service called Stadia. Stadia has been a challenge for major console vendors like Sony and Nintendo. Facebook, on the other hand, doesn’t want to see its service as a competitor to one of these offers, CNN says. Rather, they want to encourage visitors to their platform to stay longer on Facebook.
Since November 2019, Swiss Telco Sunrise has also been offering a game streaming service in partnership with Gamestream. It works exclusively on the network operator’s 5G network and costs 9.90 francs per month. Sunrise presented the offer at the opening of the 5G Joint Innovation Center in Zurich’s Glattpark.
