Although we have known about the existence of this processor since last month, Samsung made the official announcement of the launch only this week. Exynos 1080 is Samsung’s first 5nm EUV FinFET architecture processor.

The processor is an octa-core with 1 x Cortex-A78 clocked at 2.8 Ghz, 3 x Cortex-A78 clocked at 2.6 GHz and 4 x Cortex-A55 clocked at 2.0 GHz. It is supported by a Mali-G78 MP10 GPU and integrates a 5G modem that comes with support in the sub-6 GHz variants, as well as mmWave.

Exynos 1080 will support cameras with resolutions up to 200 Megapixel single camera and 32 + 32 Megapixel dual camera, will offer the ability to record video at a maximum resolution 4K with 60 fps and will integrate the Wi-Fi 6 standards IEEE 802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.2 and 4G LTE Cat. 18.

The processor integrates an NPU dedicated to artificial intelligence activities, is compatible with UFS 3.1, LPDDR4x / LPDDR5 standards and supports screens with a resolution of 3360 x 1440 pixels with refresh rates up to 90Hz or FullHD + with refresh rates up to 144Hz.

Exynos 1080 is promoted more as a mid-range processor, so it won’t be used on the future Samsung Galaxy S21 series. The South Korean company said that the first smartphone with this processor on board will be launched in 2021 under the Vivo brand.
