EToro's global online investment platform, which offers encryption in particular, has recently issued an apology to the Ripple community, also known as the XRP Army. The XRP army is composed of large and dedicated Twitter followers of the native token of Ripple XRP, the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
In an apology published on Twitter, the Israeli-based cryptocurrency exchange platform said their video, which elicited angry comments from members of the XRP community, was published with the sole purpose of encouraging investors to diversify their portfolios.
However, the message in the video did not fit well with most of the XRP community. According to XRP enthusiasts, eToro was using the opportunity to promote FUD, otherwise known as "Fear, uncertainty and doubt".
"We are delighted to see how strong and well-connected the #XRPcomcomunity is, it seems that the message from our latest video has offended some of you and we want you to know that we love XRP and the community and that not just because XRP is one of our most appreciated assets " the eToro team said in a Tweet.
The online tumult soon forced the encryption platform to issue formal apologies.
eToro clarified the situation
eToro made it clear in their excuses that they were not asking investors to abandon the digital in favor of other cryptocurrencies. They only advised investors to start diversifying their tokens. The trading platform also explained that the board was based on recent Ripple statistics on the platform.
Also, in the video, eToro said that diversification does not mean that Hodling should be stopped. It is about putting funds in more places to minimize risks. If the price of a good collapses, an investor will not lose all his money at once.
"We would like to take advantage of this opportunity to make it clear that we always encourage responsible trading and, in doing so, diversification can be a life-saving wheel in times of downturn in the market – this is even more important if you want to HODL", eToro clarified.
