“I’m trans, my pronouns are he / they and my name is Elliot,” the artist said in a letter via Twitter.
The now well-known actress Ellen Page, star of films like Juno (for which she received an Oscar nomination) and series like The Umbrella Academy, posted a long letter on Twitter to announce that she is transsexual and introducing herself to the world like Elliot’s Page.
The interpreter made it clear in his letter that he is very proud of his gender identity and the courage that led him to show himself in public as he is.
“Hi friends. I want to share with you that I am trans, that my pronouns are he / they and that my name is Elliot. I feel very lucky to be able to write this, to be here today, to have reached this moment of my life” , reads the first lines of the text he posted on his Twitter account.
The Canadian artist, 33 and married to Emma Portner since 2018, also took advantage of his publication to thank the people who have supported him since he started this journey.
Page starred in 2007’s “Juno” opposite Michael Cera.
He credited his best friends and family for feeling so comforted in carrying out the essential process of self-exploration that led to his new reality.
“I feel incredible gratitude for the amazing people who have supported me on this journey. I can’t put into words how extraordinary it is to be able to appreciate myself for who I am, seek my authenticity and truly love me.” wrote Page, who also starred in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
“I have received continued inspiration from the trans community. Thank you all for your courage, generosity and hard work in building a more inclusive and caring world for all,” she added.
“To all the trans people who face harassment, self-loathing, abuse and the thread of violence every day: I see you, I love you and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better,” concluded Page.
