Only eight games this season, and it’s easy to see what Arsenal’s biggest problem is.
A lack of creativity has plagued the Gunners this season. Their best assist-maker is a Hector Bellerin right-back, the average shot has dropped to just 9.1 and even Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is struggling to score, managing only one goal from open play in the Premier League so far.
With Mesut Ozil exiled from both the Premier League and the Europa League, Mikel Arteta may be looking to add a little more cunning from the midfield areas when the transfer window reopens in January.

Two names that have been strongly linked to the club are Houssem Aouar and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Although both the offensive minded midfielders, are not exactly the same type of player, and if he could, then chances are you would want to bring both Arteta at the Emirates Stadium. However, Arsenal’s budget constraints mean that it is very likely that only one of them will end up in North London, if any of them will do.
It is a difficult choice but football.london we’ll take a look at what they both have to offer.
Houssem Aouar
Houssem Aouar was the name on everyone’s lips all summer long. Until the last days of the transfer window it seemed that Arsenal wanted to sign the Lyon midfielder.
His abilities mainly reside in the final third where he is a strong creative presence that tries to find pockets of space where he can injure the opposing defenses. More specifically, try to pick up the ball from deeper positions and dribble to the left half space in the last third and create from there.
This would suit Mikel Arteta’s attack well as the Spaniard likes to focus his attack to the left to involve Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Bukayo Saka and Kieran Tierney as much as possible.
Rather than being a purely creative player in Mesut Ozil mold, Aouar is more of a complete midfielder. He greatly improved the defensive side of his game by regaining the ball almost four out of 90 times in last season’s Ligue 1.
However, its objective output is slightly underwhelming. His score of nine last season was the highest he ever made. While this is considerably better than any current Arsenal midfielder, it is not enough for Mikel Arteta’s stated goal goals for his team.
“To be a top team you have to score goals 90-100 if you want to compete with the best. It is a challenge for us and an area we need to improve and improve.”
Dominik Szoboszlai
Goal goal, however, is an area where Dominik Szoboszlai excels. He scored 30 goals and assists for RB Salzburg last season and has already 14 in 13 appearances this season.
This statistic is made even more impressive when you consider that most of them made it to the Champions League.
football.london first revealed Arsenal’s interest in Dominik Szoboszlai 18 months ago. This appears to be stronger than ever after the Hungarian national team agent confirmed he was “real”.
Reports suggest it could be available in January for as little as £ 22 million thanks to a release clause in its contract that would be a real deal for the Gunners.
football.londonHe has revealed that, as Aouar, its strengths lie in the left inner channel of the field, where he made the most of its damage for the samples of Austria in the past two seasons.
At just 20, he also has enormous potential to enhance his remarkable talent.
However, at the same time it is his youth that would make him more of a gamble if Arsenal tried to sign him. Szoboszlai has yet to prove himself on the bigger stage, with the quality of the Austrian Bundesliga noticeably lower than that of the Premier League.
He’s also never played a Champions League knockout match. Aouar, on the other hand, was a key member of Lyon who beat Juventus and Manchester City en route to the Champions League semi-finals and has been in the Les Gones first team since the age of 19.
