Djokovic enters the semifinals with confidence

The season is over for Alexander Zverev: Novak Djokovic beats the German in two sets and is in the semifinal of the ATP Finals.

World number 1 Novak Djokovic can continue to hope for sixth ATP Finals triumph, the first in five years. In the decisive third match of the group, the Serbian prevailed 6: 3, 7: 6 (7: 4) against German Alexander Zverev and qualified for the semifinals. There he meets US Open champion Dominic Thiem on Saturday afternoon. Last year Djokovic lost to the Austrian in the preliminary round and was eliminated.

Above all, Zverev must be pestered for a miserable start. The 2018 Masters winner lost the first seven points of the match and fell 3-0 in a very short time. After that he acted forcefully, especially on his own serve, but was never able to take Djokovic’s serve. In the second set tie-break, the German was 2-0 up, but only managed to take two points. After 1:36 hours, Djokovic scored the victory with a strong forehand.

The second semifinal will be played on Saturday evening by the Russian Daniil Medvedev and the Spanish Rafael Nadal.
