A new DJI drone has just been unveiled, the new DJI Mini 2. The name already suggests what some of its features and advantages are. The new DJI Mini 2 comes to replace the DJI Mavic Mini and improves the functions for flying as well as the features for taking photos and videos.
As indicated by DJI, the new Mini 2 is a successor to the original DJI Mavic Mini. The main differences have to do with its improvements in flight capabilities and more powerful engines. On the other hand, it improves image capture and data transmission in real time so that the connection is more reliable. Let’s see what it brings.

The flight options of the DJI Mini 2
The DJI Mini 2 is more beginner-oriented than experienced drone pilots. Its size and price also indicate this. Therefore, it has more simplified controls and flight modes which help the user to have facilities to that effect. DJI indicates that in the Mini 2 they have improved the technology of synchronization using OcuSync 2.0, sending live video from the drone to the phone “so you can see exactly what the Mini 2 sees”.
Although undoubtedly the interesting thing here are the sensors and functions implemented in the drone. GPS allows you to have more accurate tracking of where the drone is. On the other hand, it also has top, bottom and side proximity sensors so that the drone automatically avoids collision with objects. DJI highlights some of them functions such as geofencing so the drone does not enter restricted areas, the option to return to the point of origin or programmable altitude limits.
Image and video modes on DJI Mini 2
If we go to the photo and video section (which ultimately is the one drones are most used for), DJI highlights a number of camera features. It has single camera with 1 / 2.3 “sensor and 12 MP size. This sensor allows you to record videos up to 4K limited to 30 frames per second. It has a three-axis stabilizer to avoid and it is possible to save photographs in addition to JPEG also in RAW for later editing.
As usual with DJI drones, the internal software allows for this different pre-programmed acquisition modes. QuickShots automatically performs different drone movements while recording a target. For example, you can create spirals, orbit an object, or create a boomerang-like trajectory among other functions.
The drone can also shoot 180-degree panoramas, spheres made with 25 photos together or wide-angle from 9 images merged. The camera, of course, incorporates the ability to timer shoot or capture three different images with different exposures to combine them into a single HDR.
DJI Mini 2 versions and prices
The new DJI Mini 2 can now be purchased From today, November 5th, at DJI authorized distributors, as well as on the brand’s official website. DJI has released two different versions. The first comes with the basic package which includes the drone, the remote control and a battery. Having a price of 459 euros.
The second option available is the paquete Fly More Combo which includes all of the above plus two extra batteries, a carrying bag and a charging station for the batteries. In this case the price is equal to 599 euros. There are no variations based on color or other characteristics in addition to the two packs indicated.
DJI also offers additional accessories for the DJI Mini 2. These accessories are a prop guard, a travel bag, custom stickers to change the color or an adapter to place an LED screen. Finally we have the DJI Care Refresh, which is a kind of accident and replacement insurance for two years.
