Deutsche Telekom, Orange complete blockchain test for IPX services

Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier, the international wholesale division of Deutsche Telekom, announced that it has completed a proof of concept (POC) to improve IPX services using blockchain technology in partnership with Orange International Carriers. The project demonstrated that blockchain technology can facilitate the exchange of end-to-end key performance indicators (KPIs) between suppliers.

The exchange of KPI data leads to end-to-end quality of service (QoS) and improves the ability to conduct forecasting and incident management. Furthermore, the blockchain ensures transparency as transactions are directly visible. The data exchanged is encrypted and stored for privacy.

IPX provides the foundation for improving network performance. It also drives roaming networks by providing the ability to provide end-to-end service level agreements (SLAs) across multiple IPX networks. Orange and Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier are expanding the pool of mobile service providers connected directly through their IPX networks, as well as through IPX PoP peering and expansion agreements. Companies are developing new IPX products with Deutsche Telekom launching Premium IPX, for example, which aims to provide end-to-end SLA and QoS, as well as improve KPIs.
