Derby 0 – 1 QPR

The Derby’s terrible home run continued as a header from Macauley Bonne gave QPR a 1-0 victory at Pride Park.

The game seemed to stall until Bonne scored to give Rangers their first away win of the season and extend the Derby’s winless run at home in the league to eight games.

The Derby had chances with lively Wayne Rooney denied by Seny Dieng and Wood, but Rangers also created openings in an open contest before Bonne increased the pressure on Derby boss Phillip Cocu whose team slipped to second bottom .

Both teams had early chances with Rooney sending Kamil Jozwiak down the right in the fourth minute for a low shot Dieng saved with his legs.

David Marshall made an even better save two minutes later to snatch a Lyndon Dykes header after Albert Adomah’s cross put the striker on the back post.

Rangers created another opening in the 21st minute when Todd Kane’s pass sent Ilias Chair into the box, but a heavy touch allowed Matt Clarke to cross and make a vital block.

The open nature of the game meant there was plenty of room to play and Jozwiak’s clever pass put Rooney behind Rangers but Dieng was right to turn his low back behind.

There was a scare for the Derby when Marshall was nearly caught on the ball by Bright Osayi-Samuel, but both goalkeepers were the reason he was goalless at the end of an enterprising first half.

Same thing in the second with Derby going close to 51 ‘when Rooney’s shot from just outside the box is deflected against the outside of a post.

Rooney suffered another shot to the ground but Rangers came close when a Tom Carroll free-kick fell on Rob Dickie on the back post but couldn’t direct his shot on goal.

The Derby poured forward at every opportunity and in the 74th minute they found themselves behind Rangers only for Dickie who cut Jozwiak’s dangerous cross.

Rangers responded with Niko Hamalainen overtaking Nathan Byrne but couldn’t pick a red jersey and the visitors had an even better chance in the 81st minute when Kane entered on the right but shot wide.

But Rangers made no mistake in the 88th minute when Dickie won the ball from Jozwiak and while Derby appealed for a foul, his cross was headed for by substitute Bonne.
