Death with COVID-19: Heintje mourns his mother

Hein Simons, known as Heintje, achieved great fame with a song about his mother as a boy. Now the little star had to say goodbye to her mother – in a protective suit.

“Mom, you shouldn’t cry for your boyfriend”, Heintje sang in 1967 like a twelve year old. Now the singer cries for his mother – after several weeks of illness, he died at the age of 86. As the former child star announced, he was one Corona infection ultimately decisive for his death.

Even at the beginning of the pandemic, Heintje had worried about his mother: he only went to visit her without entering the house – the old lady then went over to the window. That finally Water in his lungs collected, he came Johanna Simons in hospital, then after a few weeks in intensive care.

Heintje was granted to his mother visit again with an exemption and he was with her the last hours before his death. The singer had to do it wear protective suit and mask. According to her son, she didn’t die directly from COVID-19, but she was: her heart could no longer resist the tension.
