- Investigations by the prosecutor have begun against the doctor of the latest Argentine football icon Diego Maradona.
- The competent authority of San Isidro confirmed on Sunday the media reports on the investigation into Leopoldo Luque on suspicion of manslaughter.
On Sunday, during the proceedings, searches were carried out in Luque’s private home and treatment rooms. Investigators were looking for evidence of the doctor’s misconduct in treating the 60-year-old.
Maradona’s three daughters are said to have asked authorities in previous statements to review the drug their father had prescribed in recent months and in connection with a brain operation.
“Like a father”
Luque confirmed the research to reporters. He collaborates with the prosecutor, who has seized medical records on Maradona and electronic devices. With tears he said he had nothing to blame. “I am proud of everything I have done for Diego”. He was like a father to him.
Luque had operated in Maradona earlier this month at a clinic in La Plata for a blood clot in the brain. Eight days after the operation, the 1986 world champion was released. According to official information, Maradona died two weeks later last Wednesday from the consequences of a heart attack.
