Despite massive coronavirus infections in many countries around the world, some people continue to neglect basic safety rules and pay too high a price for it.
Thus, in the US state of Maine, a wedding ceremony was held, after which 177 people were infected with the coronavirus, seven of whom later died from complications. Ridus writes citing the local Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
It was reported that the event took place in a small town with a population of 4.5 thousand people, where no infection had previously been recorded. There were 55 guests at the ceremony.
Five days after the celebration, the first positive tests for COVID-19 were recorded. Two people present at the wedding complained of a sore throat, fever and cough. Then three other guests reported similar symptoms.
The Center for Control and Prevention traced the contacts of infected people and found that it was in this event that an outbreak of infection occurred. According to the results of the check, it was found that the number of guests exceeded the limit and that people did not wear masks and did not keep their distance.
Subsequently, another 27 out of 55 guests were infected. Additionally, the restaurant workers became ill with COVID-19, and the infection began to actively spread throughout the city. The nursing home and prison also identified the people with a positive test. These establishments are said to be located 100 kilometers from where the wedding took place.
It should be noted that among the deceased and hospitalized patients there was not one of the direct guests of the ceremony.
Previously, “FACTS” wrote that prolonged self-isolation, movement limitations and constant stress from bad news lead to a sharp increase in the number of patients with hypertension, and it is very likely that after covid, another epidemic could strike. humanity.
