Union Berlin, once again the surprise side of the German Bundesliga this season, have annoyingly missed further points in the Berlin duel against Hertha. The Union loses 1: 3.

For the team of coach Urs Fischer, who had lost none of their last eight league games and won four, disaster came shortly after the first 1-0 lead. Defensive midfielder Robert Andrich inadvertently hit an opponent in the head with a dangerous play. He was shown the red card – correctly according to the regulations – so much so that the Union had to play outnumbered for about 70 minutes.

Hertha took advantage of their second win in their last nine games. In the standings, the Union is sixth, with a five-point lead over Hertha.
