The CD Projekt development team has updated or rather expanded the system requirements for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 action RPG. In addition to the mostly unchanged recommendations for 1080p, there are guidelines for 1440p and 2160p and ray tracing. .

As of September, the previous system requirements for Cyberpunk 2077 were still limited to “Minimum” and “Recommended” with an unspecified resolution. It is now clear that behind this are the requirements for 1080p resolution, i.e. Full HD (1,920 × 1,080) with low or high details.

Cyberpunk 2077: requirements for 1440p and 2160p

The information for 1440p aka WQHD (2,560 × 1,440) in the “Ultra” graphics setting is new. There, as mentioned in the recommendation for an AMD Ryzen 3 3200g 1080p or an Intel Core i7-4790 as a CPU. The RAM and graphics memory are also identical at 12GB and 6GB. However, the higher number of pixels requires faster GPUs of the type Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 5700 XT, which are models of the previous generation.

In UHD (3,840 × 2,160) with Ultra-Setting the requirements should continue to grow. The mentioned Intel processor remains unchanged, but the AMD counterpart should already be the six-core Ryzen 5 3600. With 16GB, 4GB more memory is recommended. Graphics cards should have at least 8GB of video memory and be GeForce RTX 2080 Super or the same RTX 3070 from Nvidia. The AMD GPU shows how fresh the information is: the mentioned Radeon RX 6800 XT has just appeared and with 16 GB it provides more than enough memory. The assignment is surprising, however: in reality, the RX 6800 XT competes with Nvidia’s RTX 3080 and delivers around 50% more FPS than an RTX 2080 Super in the ComputerBase test course.

The maximum setting with ray tracing requires RTX 3080

For the first time, requirements for various settings with ray tracing effects enabled (RTX On) have been added, although only GeForce graphics cards are mentioned. According to CD Projekt, the implementation of ray tracing is based on the DXR standard provided by Microsoft, so the Radeon RX 6800 (XT) and RX 6900 XT should also be able to accelerate rays, but the developer has not confirmed this yet.

The minimum for 1080p and “RT Medium” requires the same processors as 1080p in “High” without ray tracing. However, at least a GeForce RTX 2060 with 6GB and 16GB of RAM is required. For 1440p with “RT Ultra” it should be at least a Core i7-6700 or a Ryzen 5 3600, each with 16 GB of RAM. The recommended graphics card in the form of the GeForce RTX 3070 with 8 GB is much more powerful. The maximum of 2160p and “RT Ultra” described by CD Projekt sets the same CPU and RAM requirements as the 1440p with ray tracing, but requires a GeForce RTX 3080 with 10GB and thus the second fastest GPU for gamers.

Cyberpunk 2077 will arrive in just under 3 weeks

After several postponements, Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to appear on December 10, 2020. A new trailer released just yesterday showing five minutes of gameplay from the dystopian OpenWorld.
