Cuban Randy Arozarena, a Tampa Bay Rays player of the Major Leagues, was arrested this Tuesday 24-N for a “difference with a relative” in the Mexican state of Yucatan, the State Attorney’s Office confirmed in Efe.

The event took place this Tuesday morning in a neighborhood west of Mérida, the capital of Yucatán.

Reports in the local press indicate that the difference with a relative was an alleged assault on his ex-wife when he tried to forcibly kidnap his daughter.

The media reported that Arozarena went to visit his daughter, but that the Cuban went violent and beat his ex-wife, which alerted neighbors, who reportedly called the police.

A video of Arozarena is circulating on social media, holding her daughter in her arms, while arguing on the street with neighbors and with a state police patrol as a witness.

The Prosecutor added that they are integrating the investigations and in the next 48 hours we will know what happened and will determine the legal situation of Arozarena.

The person who has suffered the alleged attack will have to ratify the report to the authorities.

After losing the World Series to the Rays, Arozarena, 25, moved to Mérida where he married Colombian Cenelia Pinedo and remains in the southern Mexican city.

In addition to getting married, Arozarena met with local authorities as the mayor of Mérida.

Arozarena was named Most Valuable Player of the 2020 American League Championship Series, in his second season in the Major League.

The Cuban had a 2020 batting percentage of .281, with 7 homers and 11 RBI as one of the Ray’s offensive candles.

Arozarena made his Major League debut in 2019 with the St. Louis Cardinals, who sold him this season to the Rays.
