Data from the outbreak on Monday, November 23, once again reflects a slight decline in France, although the number of new deaths remains high. The country is the first to pass under the target set by Emmanuel Macron on October 14: less than 5,000 new cases per day.
This Monday, November 23, as at the beginning of the week, health authorities announced a series of new deaths linked to the significant coronavirus in France. It stands at 501 deaths according to Public Health France, a level substantially identical to that of last Monday (508). With this new assessment, the country is getting closer and closer to the threshold of 50,000 deaths caused by the pandemic (49,232, of which 33,945 in hospitals).
In terms of hospitalizations, however, the – slight – decline in the epidemic is more felt. In fact, on Monday there were 1380 new hospitalizations (31,449 in total), compared to 2,065 the previous week. 960 patients were also able to return home.
And in intensive care, the number of new patients is 244, up from 366 a week earlier. There are 4,438 in total, compared to 4908 last Monday.
There were also 4,452 further confirmed cases compared to the last report communicated by the authorities, bringing the total number of cases identified since the beginning of the epidemic in the country to 2,144,660. This number of new cases is in free fall from just five days ago (over 28,000).
This is the first time that this figure has dropped below 5,000 daily cases since September 28. And this is precisely the goal of daily contamination that President Emmanuel Macron set himself as the horizon to be reached during his interview on October 14 (“from 3000 to 5000”).
