Covid-19: is your municipality one of the most affected by the coronavirus epidemic in the Var?

How is the epidemic progressing in your city? The data published by Santé Publique France on the Geodes platform makes it possible to view the sectors in which the circulation of the virus is most active.

The incidence rate by municipality is updated daily. The latest data for “7 consecutive days” are from Friday and therefore cover the period from 7 to 13 November.

If they have to be taken with a grain of salt (they depend heavily on local screening policy and automatically escalate as testing intensifies), they still offer a fairly accurate view of the municipalities most affected.

By way of comparison, the incidence rate stood at 262 at the departmental level and 257 at the national level on 13 November.

Twelve heavily affected municipalities

The incidence rate is higher than 500 in twelve municipalities of the Var: Collobrières, Comps-sur-Artuby, La Martre, Montauroux, Saint-Antonin-du-Var, Tavernes, Trans-en-Provence, Villecroze, as well as Châteauvieux, La Roque -Esclapon, Tourtour and Trigance, where it exceeds 1,000.

Data confirmed by the positivity rate (the percentage of tests that are positive) and which is, in each of these municipalities, almost double the departmental average: more than one in four tests is positive!

The size of these communes, however, calls for caution: with the exception of Montauroux and Trans, they have barely a few hundred souls, and a single family “cluster” may be enough to raise the alert, as it is. this is probably the case with La Roque-Esclapon.

Some large cities were not spared

The incidence rate in about fifty other municipalities of the Var is above the national average and is between 250 and 500, according to the map published in Geodes.

Again, many villages. But also more populated cities, such as Hyères, Fréjus, Draguignan, Six-Fours, La Garde, La Valette, La Crau or even Saint-Maximin.

Toulon, La Seyne-sur-Mer, Saint-Raphaël and Sanary-sur-Mer are between 150 and 250.

With an incidence rate of less than 150, Brignoles is doing a little better.

NB: In the map below the municipalities are not “clickable”. The legend (color palette), on the other hand, only displays municipalities in black or yellow, for example.
