A new alliance between Tendermint and Kava Labs may have paved the way for the Cosmos network to evolve into a fully functional and optimized environment "blockchains internet"Assuming that the new partnership is at the height of expectations, this could prove to be a big step towards removing the interoperability problems that prevent Cosmos from realizing its vision of "A highly engaging ecosystem of resources that works together".
Kava brings the compatibility of Interledger to the Cosmos
Tendermint is pursuing the Cosmos project to find a practical and reliable solution to three of the most scrupulous problems afflicting the largest blockchain community: scalability, usability and interoperability. The project team began experimenting with the Interlingger protocol (ILP) almost a year ago to make interoperable payments simpler and more efficient and to transfer value between different blockchains.
ILP is designed to facilitate secure transfers between registers so that anyone with accounts on two different registers can connect seamlessly. To make the process more streamlined and reliable, ILP distributes what is defined as an escrow of the ledger provider, which, as the name suggests, allows conditional blocking of funds just as normal commitments do.
In short, ILP attempts to circumvent the seemingly inevitable proliferation of payment networks by linking them all with an internetworking protocol independent of any network, currency or company. In this way, blockchain networks like Ripple, Bitcoin or Stellar do not have to convince any other network to connect through their network to achieve true interoperability.
ILP adds further appeal to existing blockchain-based payment solutions by allowing users to transfer funds through untrusted connectors securely. Furthermore, the possibility of transferring funds between different registers generates a global liquidity chart.
Another significant advantage of ILP – one of which other interoperability protocols can not boast – is the fact that it can easily bridge the gap between cryptographic and non-blockchain payment systems.
Noting that "organizations like Ripple and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have seen the potential of ILP and use it in private network production, "Zaki Manian, director of the Cosmos developer team, recently pointed out that"the challenge with ILP was the creation of a public implementation of commercially viable and scalable blockchain. "And it is precisely here that the role of Kava comes into play.
Kava is the first interlacing solution provider that adds liquidity and interoperability to blockchain, crypto exchange and wallet. It created a breakthrough by establishing ILP links between public blockchains such as those that feed Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Kava, the startup blockchain that aspires to emerge as a leading open payment system for cryptocurrencies, is launching the public beta of Switch, the company's first major product. Switch is basically a cross-currency interface for interlacing that allows users to exchange digital assets in a minimized way.

With Kava technology at its disposal, the Cosmos network can expand and link its ecosystem to the broader community of blockchains.
Ripple's David Schwartz excited by the new development
While Tendermint's announcement of development with Kava and Cosmos did not receive massive media coverage, it captured the attention of Ripple's CTO, David Schwartz almost instantaneously.
David Schwartz seemed excited by the development of the project of his former colleague Evan Schwartz (co-inventor of Interledger), as it could increase the usability of XRP. D Schwartz retweeted the ad on the same day, as well as posting numerous comments related to it.
TO quote Schwartz:
"ILP allows you to use XRP (and all other resources) for payment and to hold it wherever it is in. This levelens the playing field and improves the usability of the criptos for everyone."

Another Interledger protocol fan seems to be Michael Arrington, co-founder of TechCrunch and a well-known advocate of crypto / blockchain technologies, while challenging Twitter users to convince him that Interldger is not "absolutely amazing."
