Coronavirus in France: 396 deaths in hospital and 12,459 contaminations in 24 hours

Europe has remained the epicenter of the Covid-19 outbreak for the past seven days, but contamination has continued to slow. As in France, where health authorities identified 12,459 new cases this Friday, up from 13,563 on Thursday and 16,282 on Wednesday. The test positivity rate also continues to decline and stands at 11.7%, against 12.2% the day before.

The number of patients admitted to the ICU is decreasing day by day. This Friday 3,871 serious cases were hospitalized, up from 4,006 on Thursday. Of these, 206 have been admitted in the past 24 hours.

In all, 28,620 patients are treated in hospitals in France. A figure that has continued to decline since it stood at 29,282 on Thursday and 29,944 on Wednesday.

But the epidemic continues to rage and in the last 24 hours in the hospital there have been 396 deaths related to Covid-19. According to the latest report from Public Health France, 564 people have died from the disease since Tuesday even in social and socio-medical facilities, such as nursing homes.

In total, SARS-CoV-2 has claimed the lives of 51,914 patients since the outbreak began in France. Among these deaths, 35,512 were registered in hospitals and 16,402 in social and medico-social institutions.
