Coronation Street was hit by 59 Ofcom complaints for a “discriminatory” scene involving Sarah Platt and Adam Barlow.

In an episode that aired on November 11, he saw Sarah, played by Tina O’Brien, 37, call Adam, played by Sam Robertson, 35, a ‘smug Scottish g * t’.

The argument came after Adam tried to make Sarah jealous by asking one of her coworkers Alina Pop.

An Ofcom spokesperson told The Sun it had received 59 complaints for a “discriminatory comment” made by Sarah Platt.

Going to Twitter after the scenes aired, fans were furious at the observation as they wondered why the word “Scottish” was used as an insult.
