In September, Coinbase announced its ambitious goal of "quickly listing" any "digital resource that complies with local laws". Now, the San Francisco cryptocurrency colossus is loyal to this word and has revealed a variety of new altcoins that the company is "exploring" support for potentially listing in the future.

While Coinbase is quick to point out that "they can not guarantee" all resources will eventually be listed for trading on Coinbase and Coinbase Pro, the current crypto pinzine intends to offer its customers "access to more than 90% of all digital assets compliant by market capitalization, "starting with the following altcoins:

Trying to curb the rumors before they begin to creep, Coinbase cautions that "customers may see public APIs and other signs that we are conducting engineering work to potentially support these resources" and that these signals should not be taken as confirmation that all resources are listed and Coinbase will provide updates through its official channels.
Coinbase also says to expect "similar ads on the exploration of the addition of more assets" in the future. The last time Coinbase revealed a list of altcoins they were exploring, it was a group of five altcoins including Basic Attention Token (BAT), Cardano (ADA), 0x (ZRX), Stellar (XLM) and ZCash (ZEC). Of these five, Coinbase has listed three, starting with 0x, followed by BAT e more recently Zcash.
XRP can finally be listed on Coinbase
Among the list of new tokens, among the most interesting inclusions is the Ripple XRP token. Coinbase has long listed many of the tokens in the top ten cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, but has oddly omitted the current number two of crypto, Ripple. Speculators suggest that Coinbase may have avoided listing XRP for fear that it may not be sufficiently centralized, which could make it a security under US law.

In April, anonymous sources claimed that Ripple had offered to grant Coinbase $ 100 million in XRP tokens to allow users to start trading the asset, and were even willing to allow Coinbase to repay the dollar loan, letting Coinbase earn on the loan if the value of Ripple has increased.
Given Coinbase's full compliance with US regulators, if XRP were listed, it could be seen as a green light for investors to preserve the asset without fear of being considered a security.
